Politec acquires two new companies
Together with Ultracon, Politec keeps taking long steps in the pursuit of leadership

Politec Global IT Services, Brazilian multinational, announces the acquisition of two companies, Search Tecnologia, market leader integration service provider to DETRANs [Departamentos de Trânsito – Traffic Departments], and Ultracon, one of the greatest IT service providers in the Utilities industry in Brazil.

In 2008, Politec received financial input from Mitsubishi Corporation. As part of this investment, the start-up and acquisitions in several countries were foreseen. These acquisitions are part of this process. “The financial crisis has not affected our expansion plans which were started in 2008. Politec maintains its growth strategy in Brazil and abroad, and acquisitions are important so that we speed up our growth in segments which are strategic for the company,” reveals Edenilson Fleischmann, executive vice-president at Politec and representative of Mitsubishi in the company.

The investments have been strategically chosen in areas in which Brazil shows great growth and development potential: transportation, traffic, and utilities.

Search started its activities in mid 1989. The company stands out for its excellent technical team, formed by analysts and programmers with great experience in development and knowledge of the Brazilian traffic legislation. The company offers integrated, high-performance products which help, rapidly and safely, the operators and administrators in the several areas of DETRAN access the information in a simple and fast way. In 2008, the company had a R$ 20 million revenue.

The acquisition of Ultracon took place in early January, after 8 months of negotiations. “Our company has presented surprising performance and growth in the last years, and the sale to Politec will support this growth,” explains the commercial director Waldir Gritzbach.

Together with Ultracon, Politec keeps taking long steps in the pursuit of leadership for being the greatest SAP partner in Latin America. In the utilities industry, in which Politec already performs, Ultracon is one of the most experienced in the market. Its main executives, Waldir Gritzbach, Jamil Patrick Junior and Sérgio Hidalgo Peres, have, each of them, more than 30-year-experience in the energy industry, being great authorities in the subject.

“Politec will keep Ultracon’s executives in the business management, as well as the entire the consultants team, which are about 150 working throughout the country. The goal of the acquisition is not to cut costs, but to speed up the company’s growth. Ultracon will keep its independence, but with the support of all Politec’s structure,” assures Fleischmann.

Ultracon will be Politec’s utilities unit, keeping its corporate name. The estimate for 2009 is over 70% revenue growth. In 2008 the company had an approximate R$ 15 million revenue.

With 38 years of performance and recently associated to Mitsubishi Corporation Group, Politec has become consolidated in the hall of global companies for providing its customers with innovative, flexible and customized solutions in technology, outsourcing and consulting.
